Rockland County's premiere
70's retro band "Huggy Bear & the Sweathogs" have
been performing music in the county for the last 16 years. The
band carved out it's niche performing classic 70's and 80's dance
music by KC & The Sunshine Band, The Bee Gee's, Chic, Barry
White, Donna Summer and much more. "Huggy Bear" is more
then just a name; the band actually features a lead singer clad
in a full bear costume. Erik Walker's notorious singing bear character
has been delighting audiences since the band's inception.
Huggy Bear & The Sweathogs have had a
long musical career spanning 16 years, performing regularly in the
Tri-State area since their debut in 1990. The band have outlasted
many of the venues they've performed in! While most recently making
their home at Joe & Joe's, they have also held regular residences
at Chubby McGuire's in Orangeburg (formerly "The Orangeburg
Tavern"), Fordy's in Nanuet (Formerly "The Triangle Pub"
and "C&D's"), and Steve's Marina in Haverstraw. They
frequently play events for the various Rockland County Fire Departments,
including most recently the Congers Fire Parade. In addition, they
have participated in numerous benefit functions for the Police and
Fire Departments.
